9/27/01 -- "Camera Women," a selective survey of the history
of photography from its inception to the present from the
perspective of the woman photographer, will be on view at
the Princeton University Art Museum from October 6, 2001,
through January 6, 2002. The exhibition will travel to the
Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Vassar College, January 25
through March 24, 2002.

9/21/01 -- Li Shaomin, associate professor in the
faculty of business at City University of Hong Kong, who was
detained for six months in China will lecture on "Chinese
Legality and My Experience Under Arrest," Oct. 1 at 4:45
p.m., 302 Frist Campus Center. Li Shaomin, a Princeton
graduate alumnus and scholar of Chinese business management
strategy, was detained in February during a visit to China
and was held until he was charged, quickly tried, and sent
abroad after his conviction in July. ...

members of the Class of 2005 when the 2001-2002 academic
year officially begins this weekend. Approximately 550 new
graduate students are expected to enroll. Opening Exercises
will be held Sunday, Sept. 9 and classes begin Sept. 13.

principles to guide the prosecution of war crimes and other
serious crimes under international law when there are no
traditional jurisdictional links to the victims or
perpetrators. If adopted by governments around the world,
the principles would go far to bring war criminals to
justice.

recalls role in redistricting fight
7/10/01 -- Political lesson: Professor Larry Bartels'
research on politics and public affairs never included a
close study of New Jersey politics. But when the chief
justice of the state Supreme Court asked him to play a
central role in the state's redistricting battle this
spring, Bartels was given a front-row seat to one of the
fiercest turf wars in Jersey politics.

Amy Gutmann named Princeton University's
provost
7/6/01 -- Amy Gutmann, a professor of politics at
Princeton University since 1976 and the founding director of
its University Center for Human Values, has been appointed
by President Shirley Tilghman to succeed Professor Jeremiah
Ostriker as provost, the second-ranking officer of the
University, effective September 1. The appointment was
enthusiastically approved today at a special meeting of the
executive committee of the Board of Trustees.
Gerald L.
Geison, scholar of history of medicine, dies at
58
7/5/01 -- Gerald L. Geison, a history professor who was
well known for his teaching and research on the history of
medicine, was found dead in his home in Princeton Monday. He
was 58 and died of an enlarged heart.

7/2/00 -- An exhibition of recent acquisitions will open
Saturday, July 7, 2001, at The Art Museum, Princeton
University. "The summer exhibition, 'Recent Acquisitions,'
features an exciting selection of over thirty recent gifts
and purchases, all of which enhance and expand on the
tremendous breadth and diversity of the Museum's
collections," says Laura Giles, associate curator of prints
and drawings, who organized the exhibition.

Hall grounds spruced up
7/2/01 -- Princeton University's "front yard" is getting
a facelift this summer. On June 18, engineering and arborist
crews began a project to spruce up the grounds surrounding
Nassau Hall.
