Spotlight

Name: Russell Steves.

Position: Coordinator of physical therapy for University Health Services. Providing physical therapy for undergraduate and graduate students who have injuries. Serving as the athletic trainer for the men’s soccer team, the men’s track team, and the men’s and women’s tennis teams.

Quote: “I like the fact that the students I work with are inquisitive and want a lot of information about their injuries. I’m a big fan of educating people about how their bodies work and what they can do to get better.”

Other interests: Traveling with the Manchester United men’s soccer team when they play in the United States during the summer. Playing golf and tennis. Visiting museums and reading about art, especially from the Italian Renaissance.

Effective July 1, 2004: Barbara Mann, assistant professor of Near Eastern studies, to accept a position at the Jewish Theological Seminary; Joanna Picciotto, assistant professor of English, to accept a position at the University of California-Berkeley; Elie Tamer, professor of economics, to accept a position at Northwestern University.

Effective Aug. 1, 2004: Michael Woodford, the Harold H. Helm ’20 Professor of Economics and Banking, to accept a position at Columbia University.

Effective Sept. 1, 2004: Amit Sahai, assistant professor of computer science, to accept a position at the University of California-Los Angeles.

Effective Jan. 1, 2005: Thomas Shutt, assistant professor of politics, to accept a position at Case Western Reserve University.

Effective Sept. 1, 2005: Carolyn Abbate, professor of music, to accept a position at Harvard University.
