President, Delegation Travels to Asia

Princeton NJ -- During fall break, President Tilghman and a University delegation traveled to Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong and Seoul. In each city, they attended meetings with alumni and government officials and visited leading secondary schools and universities. And, in response to a call by University trustees to increase awareness and appreciation of Princeton around the world, the agenda in each city included significant time for meeting with media representatives. Tilghman was interviewed by numerous newspapers and appeared as a guest on two major Chinese television shows.

In Korea, a sign welcomed the president to Seoul Science High School. In Beijing, Tilghman attended an Alumni Council reception (top), posing for group pictures and chatting one-on-one with Austin Hu (bottom left), a 1995 graduate alumnus of the Woodrow Wilson School who is deputy chief of mission for the World Bank. On her way to an interview with China Central Television, she also toured Peking Union Medical College (bottom right) and spoke with this researcher about her work with stem cells.
