In the Plasma Physics Lab,
physicists Zhihong Lin and Masayuki Ono and
engineer Michael Williams are the recipients of the
Kaul Foundation Prize for Excellence in Plasma Physics and
Technology Development. Williams has also won the 1999
Distinguished Career Award from Fusion Power Associates.
Assistant Professor of Music Simon
Morrison has received the Alfred Einstein Award from the
American Musicological Society for his article "Skryabin and
the Impossible" published in the society's journal.
Honored
McCarter Theatre's special
programming director William Lockwood (l) celebrated
with his mother Virginia and brother Stephen at a dinner in
his honor at the theater on October 29. More than 70 people
attended the event, which recognized Lockwood's association
with McCarter over nearly for four decades.
First as associate producer and now as
special programming director for McCarter's classical music,
dance, jazz, world music, world dance and special events
programs, Lockwood has brought to McCarter performers as
diverse as Tony Bennett and Luciano Pavarotti, Marcel
Marceau and Alvin Ailey, Pink Floyd and Yo-Yo Ma.
Born and educated in Princeton and at
Princeton, Lockwood is a member of the Class of 1959. His
father William was a professor of politics and international
affairs at the University, and his mother was an elementary
school teacher at Miss Fine's School and later Princeton Day
School.

Color of success
The board of the Third World Center
welcomed Afeni Shakur (c), mother of the late rapper
2Pac, as the keynote speaker in "The Color of Success" Youth
Conference on November 12.
A former Black Panther, Shakur now works
with the Shakur Family Foundation to intcrease literacy and
spark community development in the inner city.

Athletics
Basketball. The men
lost to Ohio 68-60 on November 26. The women lost to
Delaware 74-43 on November 23, defeated Ohio 69-63 on
November 26 and lost to Arkansas 87-45 on Novem-ber 27.
(Men: 1-3, women: 1-4)
Hockey. The men's team tied Yale
5-5 on November 23 and lost to Northeastern 3-0 on November
27. The women beat Yale 5-1, tied Wis-consin 4-4 and beat
Ohio State 2-0 November 26, 27 and 28. (Men: 1-4-3, 1-2-3
ECAC; women: 4-3-2, 3-3-1 ECAC)
