- Subscriptions. The Bulletin is distributed free to faculty, staff and students. Others may subscribe to the Bulletin for $30 for the 2006-07 academic year (half price for current Princeton parents and people over 65). - Deadlines. In general, the copy deadline for each issue is the Friday 10 days in advance of the Monday cover date. The deadline for the Bulletin that covers Sept. 16-23 is Friday, Sept. 7. Six named to endowed posts
Princeton NJ — Six faculty members have been named to endowed professorships, effective July 1, 2007:
Jeanne Altmann, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
Neta Bahcall, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Astrophysical Sciences.
Susan Fiske, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology.
David Leheny, the Henry Wendt III ’55 Professor of East Asian Studies.
Alexander Smits, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Kenneth Steiglitz, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Computer Science.
Board approves nine promotions
The Board of Trustees has approved the promotions of nine faculty members. The faculty members and their departments, by the academic rank to which they are being promoted, are:
Professor — Joshua Goldstein, sociology and public affairs; Marc Melitz, economics and international affairs; Eileen Reeves, comparative literature; Esteban Rossi-Hansberg, economics and international affairs; Deborah Yashar, politics and international affairs.
Associate professor (with continuing tenure) — Elizabeth Armstrong, sociology and public affairs; Devah Pager, sociology.
Assistant professor (for a three-year term) — Max Lieblich, mathematics; André Neves, mathematics.
All are effective July 1, 2007.
Faculty members submit resignations
The following faculty members have submitted their resignations:
Effective July 1, 2007: Carol Armstrong, the Doris Stevens Professor in Women’s Studies and professor of art and archaeology and women and gender, to accept a position at Yale University; Ihor Lemischka, professor of molecular biology, to accept a position at Mount Sinai School of Medicine; Sankar Muthuchidambaram, assistant professor of politics, to accept a position at the University of Chicago; Jennifer Pitts, assistant professor of politics, to accept a position at the University of Chicago; Hélène Ray, assistant professor of economics and international affairs, to accept a position at the London Business School; David Srolovitz, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and the Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials, to accept a position at Yeshiva College; Christine Stansell, the Edwards Professor of American History, to accept a position at the University of Chicago; Bruce Western, professor of sociology, to accept a position at Harvard University; Wayne Wolf, professor of electrical engineering, to accept a position at the Georgia Institute of Technology; Alastair Wright, assistant professor of art and archaeology, to accept a position at Oxford University.
Effective Sept. 1, 2007: Fengbo Hang, assistant professor of mathematics, to accept a position at New York University; Josiah Ober, the David Magie ’97 Class of 1897 Professor of Classics, to accept a position at Stanford University; Nataša Pavlovi´c, assistant professor of mathematics, to accept a position at the University of Texas-Austin; Jacob Rasmussen, assistant professor of mathematics, to accept a position at the University of Cambridge; Ramin Takloo-Bighash, assistant professor of mathematics, to accept a position at the University of Illinois.
