Hammond joins facilities senior management team

Princeton NJ — Ben Hammond has been appointed director of administrative services in the facilities department.

As a member of the facilities senior management team, he will work on a variety of financial, administrative and systems-related projects. His areas of responsibility will include budget and finance, contracts administration, materials management, process improvement and information systems, including geographic information systems.

A Princeton staff member since 2002, Hammond has served most recently as director of planning and administration in the Office of the Executive Vice President.

“Ben has managed a series of important University projects spanning many departments and supporting many of the University’s current initiatives in areas such as the residential colleges, restricted funds, real estate, and internal audit and compliance, and he has contributed to efforts to strengthen the engineering school and to expand child care,” said Michael McKay, vice president for facilities, to whom Hammond will report.

“The experience that Ben brings with him will be invaluable in his new role as we in facilities take several of these, and many other programs, to the next step, as will his involvement in the consensus-building process for so many complex issues across a number of University constituencies,” he said. “I am excited that Ben has chosen to join facilities — both for what he will contribute to the internal workings of the department, as well as for his ability to work effectively with our colleagues across the campus.”

Before joining the University, Hammond worked for McKinsey and Co. in London and for Urban Wallace and Associates in Massachusetts. He also spent several months as an adviser to the Gambia Technical Training Institute in West Africa. A graduate of Harvard, he holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Hammond will transition from his current role to facilities over the course of the next several months. He will succeed Greg Bressler, who left last fall to become the associate vice president for university facilities at Montclair State University.
