- Subscriptions. The Bulletin is distributed free to faculty, staff and students. Others may subscribe to the Bulletin for $30 for the 2006-07 academic year (half price for current Princeton parents and people over 65). - Deadlines. In general, the copy deadline for each issue is the Friday 10 days in advance of the Monday cover date. The deadline for the Bulletin that covers Oct. 23-Nov. 5 is Friday, Oct. 13. University donates furniture
Princeton NJ — The renovation of seven dorms in Wilson College last summer meant that thousands of pieces of old furniture from dorm rooms were no longer needed. The University donated the items to schools, hospitals, clinics, shelters and residences in the United States and abroad through the Institution Recycling Network, a cooperative of more than 125 institutions throughout the Northeast.
• Six trailers were filled with 1,341 desks, chairs, dressers, bed frames and mattresses, weighing a total of 53 tons. Two trailers were shipped to Senegal, two to Romania and two to other parts of the United States.
• Of the trailers destined for this country, one delivered bed frames and mattresses to Slidell, La., for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Another trailer took desks and chairs to homeless shelters and a school for at-risk children in Chesapeake, Va.
• In October another 1,050 pieces of furniture will be sent to Mississippi and Louisiana to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
• The University also donated 195 mattresses to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Joseph County in South Bend, Ind., a social service organization. When Princeton arranged to buy new mattresses for Wilson College, the purchasing department stipulated that the mattress company deliver the University’s old mattresses to a charity.
The donations were coordinated through the University’s Surplus Program, which is managed by the purchasing department, with help from the facilities department.
