Benefits news

Retiree Open Enrollment is Sept. 25-Oct. 6

Princeton NJ — The University’s retiree 2007 annual benefits open enrollment period is from Monday, Sept. 25, through Friday, Oct. 6, with changes effective Jan. 1, 2007.

During this time, retirees may change or waive their health plan coverage. Retirees also may remove dependents from their health care plan. If health care coverage is waived or if dependents are removed from the plan, re-enrollment at a later date is not permitted.

Retirees will soon be receiving information in the mail about the retiree health care plans. For all pre-65 retirees and those post-65 retirees enrolled in the Princeton Medicare Plan, the Medco Health Prescription Drug Plan deductible of $115 per individual and $230 per family will be removed effective Jan. 1.

For the 2007 calendar year, all pre-65 retirees and those retirees enrolled in the premium, standard and Princeton Medicare plans will have the option of electing to enroll in a vision and/or dental plan. A summary of these benefit plans as well as an election form will be included in the open enrollment materials.

For all participating retirees, Medco will be issuing a new identification card with a system-generated ID number beginning Jan. 1. When retirees receive the new ID card, they should destroy their current Medco ID card that starts with the letters “PU,” as it will no longer be valid. Retirees should present the new ID card on their next visit to their pharmacy. The pharmacist will no longer be able to look up their account using the old Medco ID number.

Enclosed in the open enrollment package will be information regarding the Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. Retirees are encouraged to read this information carefully and keep it with their other important papers.
