Princeton NJ -- Fourteen faculty members have been named to endowed professorships. They are:
• Dilip Abreu, the Edward E. Matthews, Class of 1953, Professor of Finance and professor of economics, effective July 1, 2005.
• Christopher Achen, the Roger Williams Straus Professor of Social Sciences and professor of politics, effective July 1, 2005.
• Mark Johnston, the Walter Cerf *41 Professor of Philosophy, effective Sept. 1, 2004.
• Elon Lindenstrauss, the Thomas D. Jones Professor of Mathematical Physics, for the period July 1, 2005, through Jan. 31, 2006.
• Douglas Massey, the Henry G. Bryant Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs, effective Sept. 1, 2005.
• Philip Morgan, the Sidney and Ruth Lapidus Professor in the American Revolutionary Era, effective July 1, 2005.
• Katherine Newman, the Malcolm Stevenson Forbes, Class of 1941, Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs, effective July 1, 2005.
• Philip Pettit, the Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Politics and the University Center for Human Values, effective Feb. 1, 2005.
• Paul Starr, the Stuart Professor of Communications and Public Affairs and professor of sociology and public affairs, effective July 1, 2005.
• Elias Stein, the Albert Baldwin Dod Professor of Mathematics, to also be named the Henry Burchard Fine Professor of Mathematics for the period Feb. 1, 2006, through June 30, 2006.
