The center, located in Blairstown, N.J., is a not-for-profit organization closely affiliated with the University that operates programs year-round for urban youth and their families. Experiential and adventure-based activities, youth projects and leadership training are typical programs at Blairstown, which also offers a summer camp program. In addition, the center provides Outdoor Action programs for entering University freshmen each fall.

Moriah has an extensive record of successfully designing and delivering safe educational experiences in the wilderness and on campus. A graduate of Cornell University, he served as founding director of Cornell Outdoor Education from 1976 to 1984 and has been a senior consultant to that program since 1992. He was a program director for the Minneapolis-based Voyageur Outward Bound School between 1985 and 1992.

Moriah also has taken the principles of a wilderness challenge program and delivered them in corporate and community settings. Since 1992, he has operated his own management consulting business, teaching effective tools for improving personal leadership, teamwork and organizational health. His clients have ranged from entering MBA students at leading business schools to police officers and have included Fortune 500 companies and large national nonprofit groups. He has served on the faculty of the American Management Association since 1999.

Moriah succeeds Hendricks Davis, who resigned from the center last July after 11 years as executive director.
