Crossing the boundaries of academic
discidisciplines can be daunting, but for the
winners of this year's Sachs and Dale scholarships,
that approach has paid off. Susan Taylor has been named director of the Art
Museum. Currently director of the Davis Museum and
Cultural Center at Wellesley College, she will take
up her Princeton position in August. At Wellesley,
Taylor has overseen acquisitions, exhibitions and
programs. A highlight of her 12-year tenure was the
construction of a new building designed by Rafael

Basketball. On March 7 both the men's and
women's teams lost to Pennsylvania (men 73-52,
women 68-54). Chris Young '02 and Kate Thirolf '00
were named first-team All-Ivy League. (Men: 19-10,
11-3 Ivy; women: 9-19, 6-8 Ivy) Fencing. In NCAA Regionals on March 12,
Eva Petschnigg '03 finished first in women's foil.
(Men: 12-3, 4-0 Ivy; women: 15-2, 5-0 Ivy) Water polo (women). In the CWPA League
games on March 11 and 12, Princeton won against
West Chester, Villanova and Pennsylvania (twice).

Teams from 46 schools participated in the
Conqueror of the Hill, an annual applied
physics/engineering competition for NJ high school
students, held in McDonnell Hall on March 11.
