Name: Kathleen Amon.
Position: Co-department manager in the Department of East Asian Studies. Overseeing the department’s financial and administrative affairs with her co-manager, Donna Musial-Manners. Supervising several employees. Taking minutes at monthly department faculty meetings.
Quote: “I’ve been at the University for almost 20 years. I started as an assistant editor for the ‘Papers of Woodrow Wilson,’ assisting professor Arthur Link, who was editor-in-chief of this series. It was like living in history, reading all those documents. Then I was assistant to the dean of engineering, James Wei, for 10 years before coming to the East Asian studies department. Each of these jobs has been so interesting, and I’ve been able to see many different parts of the University through them.”
Other interests: Spending time with her six grandchildren. Playing tennis. Taking drawing classes.
