- The Bulletin is published weekly during the academic year, except during University breaks and exam weeks, by the Office of Communications. Second class postage paid at Princeton. Permission is given to adapt, reprint or excerpt material from the Bulletin for use in other media.
- Subscriptions. The Bulletin is distributed free to faculty, staff and students. Others may subscribe to the Bulletin for $30 for the 2006-07 academic year (half price for current Princeton parents and people over 65). - Deadlines. In general, the copy deadline for each issue is the Friday 10 days in advance of the Monday cover date. The deadline for the Bulletin that covers May 21-June 3 is Friday, May 11. Office of Population Research
Princeton NJ — The Office of Population Research, founded in 1936, is a leading demographic research center that offers training to graduate students who are pursuing degrees in demography and related fields.
One of its key resources is the Ansley J. Coale Population Research Collection in the Donald E. Stokes Library. The collection is one of the oldest demography libraries in the world, and it supports research in formal demography, fertility change, health and well-being, social demography, and migration and urbanization. While the library is open to the public, materials only circulate among University ID cardholders.
- The collection, which is more than 35 years old, was dedicated in 2002 in honor of Ansley Johnson Coale, who was educated at Princeton and spent his entire academic career at the University, including 16 years as the director of the Office of Population Research.
- The library contains more than 40,000 bound volumes, as well as 15,000 reprints, technical reports, manuscripts, and working and discussion papers. About 60 percent of the collection consists of international material such as censuses and vital statistics, including the International Population Census Microfilm series. The library subscribes to approximately 300 domestic and international journals. Two population research librarians and one assistant provide help with accessing the Coale collection materials.
- The collection, located on the lower level of Wallace Hall, has materials on a myriad of topics. Recent acquisitions offer insights into African migration and urbanization, transitions to adulthood in Sweden, poverty reduction as a means of population control, marriage age in India, and immigrant community services in Chinese and Vietnamese enclaves.
