Community Day at Princeton Stadium set for Oct. 16

Princeton NJ -- Residents of the campus and local communities are invited to an annual celebration of arts, entertainment, sports and community service Saturday, Oct. 16, at Princeton Stadium.

Community Day consists of pre-football game festivities featuring activities for all ages and interests: snacks, prizes, balloon sculptor, face painter, spin artist, magician, strolling banjo player and Polaroid pictures to capture the moments. In addition, the day will include a community track event (with free Princeton insignia hats for participants) and a Community Information Fair.

At the fair, 50 nonprofit organizations from the area will present exhibits highlighting their missions and volunteer needs. A special feature this year will be a new electronic voting machine and a special “Go Vote” exhibit by the Princeton Area League of Women Voters, whose members will be dispensing information about the U.S. electoral system and form of government. Door prizes will include books and games relating to U.S. history and politics.

The track event registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. The other activities also will get under way at 11:30 a.m. and will run until 2:30 p.m. The kickoff for the Princeton vs. Brown football game is at 1 p.m.

All of the pre-game festivities are included in the price of the football ticket. Reserved seat tickets, available in advance at the ticket office in Jadwin Gymnasium (258-3538), are: $7 for adults, $5 for children ages 2 to 14; and free for children under 2. On the day of the game, general admission tickets are available at $5 and $3, respectively, at the stadium ticket windows.

All University staff (anyone with a Princeton University ID or employment card) may pick up complimentary tickets on the morning of Oct. 16 at a specially designated ticket window at the northeast gate of the stadium or may get their complimentary tickets at the Princeton University Federal Credit Union, located in the Armory, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Oct. 11-14, and 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15.

Community Day is sponsored by the Office of Community and State Affairs, in conjunction with the Department of Athletics. For more information about the event (not ticket sales), call 258-5144.
