Name: Annette Santiago-España.

Position: Senior staff psychologist at the counseling center at McCosh Health Center. Providing individual and group therapy to graduate and undergraduate students as well as students at the Princeton Theological Seminary. Acting as a liaison to resident advisers and administrators at Forbes College. Coordinating the Eating Concerns Peer Educators Program. Collaborating with the Women's Center, the Fields Center for Equality and Cultural Understanding and other campus organizations to provide outreach programs for students.

Joann Mitchell, Princeton's vice provost for administration, has been named vice president and chief of staff at the University of Pennsylvania.

She will begin working at Penn on July 1 along with Amy Gutmann, Princeton provost and the Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Politics and the University Center for Human Values, who was elected Penn's president on Feb. 20.

"Joann Mitchell has contributed to Princeton in countless ways during her 10 years as a senior member of our administration," said President Tilghman. "She has served very ably as the executive secretary of the Priorities Committee, as a leader of many of our efforts to increase the diversity of our community and the quality of life for all who live and work here, and in a broad range of other responsibilities. We are, of course, very sorry to see her leave, but we wish her both success and satisfaction in the key role she will now play in Amy Gutmann's new administration at the University of Pennsylvania."

Mitchell came to Princeton in 1993 from Penn, where she served as director of affirmative action for seven years. At Princeton, she was associate provost and affirmative action officer from 1993 until 2001, when she was named vice provost for administration. She is president of the board of the McCarter Theatre Center and a member of the boards of International Schools Services Inc., the Women's Law Project, the New Jersey Supreme Court's Committee on Minority Concerns and the Association of Black Women in Higher Education, where she served one term as president. In 2002, she won the Princeton YWCA's Tribute to Women Award.

Mitchell earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Davidson College and a law degree from Vanderbilt University.


Meister to oversee core Web site

Reed Meister has been named director of Web communications and strategic projects in the Office of Communications.

Meister, who has more than 17 years of experience as an information systems professional, will be responsible for managing the design, content and communication policy strategies related to the University's Web presence. As part of his responsibilities, he will oversee the University's core Web site, which the office runs in partnership with the Office of Information Technology. He also will serve as an adviser to the campus community on Web communications.

A specialist in emerging information technologies and in the coordination of multi-disciplinary teams, Meister has held management and consulting positions in the United States and Europe. He previously worked for six years at Fujitsu Consulting, as associate director of consulting in its Edison, N.J., office and as chief information officer for Europe out of its Paris, France, office. He also was employed in various positions within financial and legal organizations and as an independent technology consultant in Paris, Princeton, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

"Capturing the essence of this University virtually while ensuring information is accessible, reliable and appealing is a formidable challenge that requires sophistication, organization and intimate knowledge of the Web and other emerging technologies," said Lauren Robinson-Brown, director of communications. "Reed is a leader and strategic thinker who will help us move to a new level of Web delivery through projects such as a dynamic core site redesign and a content management system. We're thrilled to have him on our team."

Meister will supervise Evelyn Tu, Web specialist in the Office of Communications.

A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, Meister earned a master's degree in international relations and economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. He also attended the United Nations Graduate Study Program in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris.


Post-Zwicker appointed PPPL director of science ed

Andrew Post-Zwicker has been appointed head of the science education program at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory.

Post-Zwicker joined the lab's science education program in 1997 as a senior program leader and became lead scientist for the program in 2000.

Current education programs at the lab include workshops for students and teachers, a national undergraduate fellowship research program, undergraduate laboratory internships, the New Jersey regional competition of the National Science Bowl and the "Science on Saturday" lecture series.

Since joining the PPPL, Post-Zwicker has created the Plasma Science Education Laboratory and intensive summer programs on plasma for high school teachers and students.

A graduate of Bard College, Post-Zwicker holds a master's degree and Ph.D. in physics from Johns Hopkins University. He teaches a writing seminar at Princeton on "The Ethics of Human Experimentation."

The PPPL, funded by the Department of Energy and managed by the University, is a collaborative national center for science and innovation leading to an attractive fusion energy source.
