Several activities for undergraduate and graduate degree candidates are planned for Monday and Tuesday, May 31-June 1:
• The Class Day ceremony for seniors is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday on Cannon Green (Jadwin Gym in case of severe weather). The speaker will be Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show."
• The Hooding ceremony for advanced degree candidates will begin at 5 p.m. Monday in McCarter Theatre.
• The University's 257th Commencement ceremony is slated for 11 a.m. Tuesday on the lawn in front of Nassau Hall (Jadwin Gym in case of severe weather).
Class Day will be simulcast in McCosh 10 and 50, and Commencement will be simulcast in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall; no tickets are required at these simulcast sites.
The Hooding and Commencement ceremonies will be broadcast live on TigerNet Channel 7 on campus and on Channel 27 on Princeton cable television. These events, along with Baccalaureate (scheduled for May 30), also will be Webcast and will be archived for later viewing at the same site.
Detailed information about the events, including parking instructions for members of the University community and guests, is available online at <www.princeton.edu/~vp/commencement/>. To ease traffic congestion, University employees are being asked to park in alternate lots. In addition, many employees will be dismissed at noon on Tuesday. For details, employees should ask their supervisors.
The main campus will be closed to all vehicles from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, for Commencement. For more information, call 258-3157.

The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 12. The event is free and open to the public.
Visitors can tour fusion machines, see scientific demonstrations, find out about the science behind sports and take part in a host of activities for the family. PPPL Director Rob Goldston will give a talk, "Lighting a Star on Earth," at 12:30 p.m. in the laboratory's auditorium. Free refreshments will be provided.
Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and managed by Princeton University, the laboratory is a collaborative national center for science and innovation leading to an attractive fusion energy source. Photographer and Princeton University Press employee Dale Cotton has worked to capture the architectural beauty behind the renovation of the University's Chancellor Green with a dramatic collection of photos on display through September. A dozen color photos are on view in Hyphen Space, an exhibition hall located near the Chancellor Green café, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
The exhibition highlights some of the project's most stunning architectural details, such as its interior columns topped by capitals of gilded flowers, stained and leaded glass windows, honeycombed wood floors and latticed iron balcony. The initial exhibition was coordinated by the facilities department; future events will be under the general oversight of the Council of the Humanities.
