University offers range of summer learning opportunities
Students and teachers come to campus for workshops and cutting-edge research
6/28/04 -- An important season of learning and research at Princeton is starting this month. Teachers and students from the New Jersey region and beyond will be on campus for a wide range of summer programs, which are led by University faculty, students and staff and are designed to develop participants' skills and expose them to cutting-edge research.

6/15/04 -- Princeton University has named six new members of its Board of Trustees: C. Kim Goodwin, Rishi Jaitly, Heidi Miller, Louise Sams, Eric Schmidt and Terdema Ussery II.

Gifted musician, University organist dies
6/14/04 -- David Messineo, a gifted musician who was principal University organist at Princeton, died Friday, June 11, of an apparent heart attack at his home in Shohola, Pa. He was 45.

Columbia VP Mark Burstein named Princeton's vice president for administration
6/10/04 -- Mark Burstein, Columbia University's vice president for facilities management, has been appointed Princeton University's vice president for administration, effective Aug. 2. Burstein previously served as Columbia's vice president for student services, and before that as acting vice president for human resources.

Princeton University holds 257th Commencement
1,790 students awarded degrees
6/1/04 -- Princeton University awarded degrees to 1,104 undergraduates and 686 graduate students at its 257th Commencement today. In addition, the University conferred honorary doctoral degrees upon five individuals for their contributions in the fields of education, science, arts and humanities, philanthropy and civil rights.

6/1/04 -- Princeton University awarded honorary degrees today to five distinguished individuals for their contributions in the fields of education, science, arts and humanities, philanthropy and civil rights: Edward Cone, Princeton professor emeritus of music; Pablo Eisenberg, advocate for philanthropic change and social justice; Charles Kao, pioneer of fiber optical research; Nannerl Keohane, president of Duke University; and Robert Moses, educator and civil rights leader.

Four faculty members recognized for outstanding teaching
6/1/04 -- Four Princeton faculty members received President's Awards for Distinguished Teaching at Commencement ceremonies June 1: Jeremy Adelman, the Walter Samuel Carpenter III Professor in Spanish Civilization and Culture and professor of history; John Fleming, the Louis Fairchild '24 Professor of English and Comparative Literature; Alison Gammie, lecturer in molecular biology; and James Sturm, professor of electrical engineering.

Affordable housing to be discussed at symposium, April 16
4/6/04 -- Public policy experts, developers, advocates for affordable housing and state and local elected officials will gather at Princeton University to discuss the state's affordable housing needs at the University's 2004 Symposium on New Jersey Issues on Friday, April 16, in Dodds Auditorium in Robertson Hall. The event will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m.

Princeton offers admission to 11.9 percent of all applicants
4/1/04 -- Princeton University has offered admission to 1,631 students, 11.9 percent of the 13,690 applicants for the class of 2008. Acceptance letters were mailed to 1,050 students who applied through the regular decision process.
