Sotomayor, alumna and trustee, is Supreme Court pick

Princeton alumna and trustee Sonia Sotomayor has been nominated by President Barack Obama to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. If confirmed, she would be the court’s first Latina justice. Sotomayor currently sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.

Valedictorian Staude shines both in the classroom and on the stage

On his first day of classes as a freshman, Holger Staude received an unexpected invitation. Florent Masse, the instructor of his advanced French course, took Staude aside after class and — impressed with the German native’s command of the language — urged him to join the University’s French theater workshop. Linguistics program appeals to more students across disciplines

At 4:30 on a Wednesday afternoon, students majoring in psychology, mathematics and classics came together in a classroom at Frist Campus Center. They spent an hour working on fractions written in Egyptian Arabic, translating sentences from the Agta language of the Philippines into Central Cagayan Agta and considering how the Proto-Indo-European “dh” sound vanished from certain English words.
