Jennifer Loessy (Denise Applewhite)

Name: Jennifer Loessy.

Position: Events and publications coordinator for the Center for African American Studies. Coordinating the center’s events, including booking locations, writing press releases, and designing posters, advertising and e-mail blasts. Overseeing the center’s newsletter. Designing in-house publications such as brochures and a calendar of events.

Quote: “I really enjoy working on events, especially the Toni Morrison Lectures. It was exciting to hear Cory Booker, the mayor of Newark, speak in October. His lectures were engaging.”

Other interests: Spending time with her husband, Todd, and their six-month-old son, Lucas. Traveling. Reading fiction. Visiting art museums.

Two faculty named to endowed chairs

Two faculty members have been named to endowed professorships, effective July 1, 2009. They are:

Leonard Barkan, the Class of 1943 University Professor in Comparative Literature.

Daniel Heller-Roazen, the Arthur W. Marks ’19 Professor of Comparative Literature.

Board approves 14 faculty promotions

The Board of Trustees has approved the promotions of 14 faculty members. All are effective July 1, 2009, unless otherwise noted.

The faculty members and their departments, by the academic rank to which they are being promoted, are:
