The University’s Alcohol Policy and Enforcement: What Works and What Doesn’t” is the topic for a workshop sponsored by the Princeton Alcohol Coalition Committee (ACC) on Friday, Dec. 5.

The event will run from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Wu Dining Hall at Butler College and will be followed by a reception. Snacks will be provided. It is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners.

The workshop will follow the format of the workshops the ACC successfully conducted this past spring to gather information for the strategic plan it proposed in May. These featured a speaker, and included break-out sessions on specific topics to encourage discussion in small groups. Groups then wrote their best two ideas on posters for further comment and discussion during the reception, which is intended to continue the conversation and promote feedback.

The speaker for this workshop is scheduled to be a student who has firsthand experience with Princeton’s discipline process regarding issues with alcohol. Small-group discussion topics will include an analysis of policymaking as well as a look at attitudes and misconceptions, among other defined subjects.

Students are strongly urged to attend, lending their voices to the conversation and to the continuing work of the ACC, which was formed a year ago to address high-risk drinking among undergraduates.

Made up mostly of students but also including faculty and staff, the coalition is collaborating with key University offices through small working groups and executive teams to implement the initiatives proposed in the strategic plan. The ACC is chaired by senior Elizabeth Dilday and Amy Campbell, director of campus life initiatives.
