Board approves five promotions

The Board of Trustees has approved the promotions of five faculty members. All were effective July 1, 2008. The faculty members and their departments, by the academic rank to which they are being promoted, are:

Professor — Gabriela Nouzeilles, Spanish and Portuguese languages and cultures; Annabella Selloni, chemistry.

Associate professor (with continuing tenure) — Joshua Clinton, politics.

Assistant professor (for a three-year term) — Mirjam Kuenkler, Near Eastern studies.

Senior lecturer (for a three-year term) — Heather Thieringer, molecular biology.

Faculty members submit resignations

The following faculty members have submitted their resignations:

Effective July 1, 2008: David Lewis, assistant professor of politics and public affairs, to accept a position at Vanderbilt University; Maria Mavroudi, professor of history and Hellenic studies, to accept a position at the University of California-Berkeley; Ricardo Reis, assistant professor of economics and public affairs, to accept a position at Columbia University.

Effective Aug. 1, 2008: Laura Chioda, assistant professor of economics, to accept a position at the World Bank.

Effective Sept. 1, 2008: Peter Lake, professor of history, to accept a position at Vanderbilt University.
