Service Recognition

Three hundred nine people who reached five-year milestones of 10 or more years in their employment with the University in 1998 were honored at the Service Recognition Luncheon in Rockefeller College on January 27, including two 40-year employees: Alfred Bush of the Library and Renato Carazzai of the Electrical Shop (right), who celebrated with his wife Peggy.

Cynthia Nelson of the Architecture School (below) received her certificate from Robert Durkee, vice president for public affairs, and John Cross of Dining Services (below right) was congratulated by Joan Doig, vice president of human resources, when they received the President's Achievement Award. Charlotte Lawson of 185 Nassau St. and James Taylor of the Plasma Physics Lab were the other recipients of this award, which is given annually to four exceptionally committed members of the support and administrative staff with 10 or more years of service. Each winner receives $2,000 and has his or her name inscribed on a plaque displayed in the Office of Human Resources.

Effective July 1, 1998:
In History, senior research scholar John Catan-zariti, after 11 years; in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, senior research scholar Howard Curtiss, after 34 years; in the Library, librarian Peter Cziffra, after 25 years; in the Utility Plant, general maintenance and low press operator Stephen Dzubryk, after 22 years; in Administrative Services, director of administrative services Bruce Finnie, after 29 years; in Physics, technical research secretary Marion Fugill, after 38 years, and purchasing agent Rosalie Staloff, after 16 years; in Risk Management, safety engineer Thomas Grieco, after 23 years; in the Office of the Recording Secretary, secretary Eleanor Grimm, after 22 years; in the Counseling Center, senior clinical psychologist Stanley Lependorf, after 28 years; in Health Services, senior athletic trainer Richard Malacrea, after 30 years, and athletics facility foreman Mario Petrecca, after 36 years; in Admission, secretary Marion Martin, after 12 years; and in Applied and Computational Mathematics, program manager Patricia Mueller, after 10 years.

Effective August 1, 1998:
In Building Services, janitor Thomas Howard, after 12 years; in the Library, librarian Evelyn Klingler, after 10 years, and senior bibliographic specialist Michiko Kurihara, after 22 years; in the Car-penter Shop, shop foreman Walter Paulaski, after 35 years; and in Dining Services, cook Lottie Rhodes, after 26 years.

Effective September 1, 1998:
In Mathematics, office assistant Doris Fisher, after 32 years; in the Plasma Physics Lab, technical associate Edward Hall, after 38 years, and principal research physicist Forrest Jobes, after 27 years; in Building Services, janitors Jeffeth Johnson, after 15 years, and Andrew Teague, after 20 years, and foreman Joseph Larkins, after 17 years; in Molecular Biology, office coordinator Elizabeth Lechner, after 38 years; in Maintenance, director of maintenance Robert Smart, after 20 years; and in Annual Giving, associate director of annual giving Robert Van Vranken, after 18 years.

Effective October 1, 1998:
In the Mason Shop, shop foreman John Carter, after 28 years; in Building Services, janitor Joseph Charles, after 15 years; in Public Safety, campus access officer Nancy Gamble, after 13 years; in Civil Engineering and Operations Research, technical research secretary Evelyn Kenney, after 10 years; in the Library, librarian Maria Lissitz, after 26 years; and in the Plasma Physics Lab, technical associates Robert Persons, after 32 years, and Joseph Stacy, after 22 years.

Effective November 1, 1998:
In the Plasma Physics Lab, technical associate Frank Anderson, after 36 years; in the Library, bibliographic specialist Barbara Bunn, after 20 years; in Building Services, janitors Israel Henry, after 10 years, and Carrie Shuman, after 28 years; in Administrative Services, office assistant Mary Kreuz, after 31 years; in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, senior technical staff member George Miller, after 36 years; and in Dining Services, senior food service worker Wavanie Mouko, after 16 years.

Effective December 1, 1998:
In the Plasma Physics Lab, janitor Nero Fortune, after 10 years, and technical associates Melvin Gensamer, after 31 years, and William Walker, after 41 years; and in the Utility Plant, utility plant engineer Delmer Harmon, after 11 years.
