New award to recognize staff service

A new award, the President's Achievement Award, is designed to recognize members of the University's support and administrative staffs who, thorough outstanding dedication and excellent work, have made significant contributions to the success of their department and to the University. The creation of this award, part of the University's Staff Recognition Program, was announced by Human Resources Vice President Joan Doig.

The award will honor performance above and beyond normal job requirements. There will be four awards made per year, at least one from each of Support Staff A, Support Staff B, and administrative and related staffs. Winners, who will receive a $2,000 cash prize and a plaque, will be announced at the January Staff Recognition Luncheon.

The deadline for nominations for this year's awards is November 21. Recommendations should be made by the nominee's senior manager to their vice president or dean, who will review the recommendation and make the nomination to the selection committee. The recommendation should include examples of the individual's accomplishments and contributions, and endorsements from at least two people, one of whom is the employee's current manager or supervisor. A brochure outlining the award criteria and selection process is available from Human Resources at 258-3301.
