Spotlight

Name: Joy Scharfstein.

Position: Assistant editor of World Politics and publications coordinator for the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS). Copy editing for World Politics, an academic journal under the editorial sponsorship of the institute. Writing and editing newsletters, press releases, fliers and advertisements for the institute and coordinating its publicity needs.

Quote: “I am so pleased to be working here. There are a lot of exciting things going on at PIIRS. I have a great group of colleagues, and my job is interesting and challenging.”

Other interests: Spending time with her husband, Leslie, and their children, 17-year-old Anna Lee and 15-year-old Austin. Playing tennis. Writing children’s books.

Effective April 1: in the plasma physics lab, technician Thomas McBride, after 27 years.

Effective July 1: in the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer, administrative assistant Susan Breen, after 16 years; in chemistry, academic support staff member Ingrid Hughes, after 30 years; in East Asian studies, senior lecturer Gwee-Sook Kim, after 16 years.
