Princeton NJ — As work on the new chemistry building south of Jadwin Hall proceeds, a mock-up representing proposed facades for the building has been erected for reference at the construction site. The 17-foot-high structure is composed of granite panels, which will be used primarily on the north and south facades; aluminum framing carrying high-performance glazing; and cast aluminum sunscreens that will shade the windows.

Work currently is progressing on the building’s concrete foundations and basement walls. Concrete structural work will continue through the spring, to be followed by structural steel framing later this year. This rendering depicts north and west views of the completed chemistry building, which is being designed by Hopkins Architects of London in collaboration with Payette Associates of Boston and is due to open in fall 2010.
