Name: Carla Hailey Penn.
Position: Manager for the Center for African American Studies. Tracking costs and ensuring the center’s budget is in compliance with University guidelines. Assisting with faculty searches, course scheduling and programming. Overseeing the hiring of new staff members and managing the current staff.
Quote: “I came to Princeton after working in corporate America for almost 20 years. I have a master of science degree and an undergraduate certificate in African American studies, so I have a heart for what we do here. I’ve studied a lot of the work of the faculty, and I have great respect for them. The students here make coming to work a joy.”
Other interests: Traveling with her husband, Lamar, and their children, 11-year-old Taylor and 8-year-old Kennedy. Teaching liturgical dance and serving as a ministry leader at Shiloh Baptist Church in Plainfield.

Effective Dec. 1: in alumni and donor records, data management support staff member Joan Demilio, after 20 years; in the plasma physics lab, principal research physicist Hyeon Park, after 23 years; in the plasma physics lab, principal research physicist Hironori Takahashi, after 32 years.
