Janet Finnie (photo: Denise Applewhite)

Janet Finnie, a Princeton alumna who has served as chief operating officer of University Health Services since 2000, has been named interim director of UHS.

She succeeds Danny Silverman, chief medical officer and executive director of UHS since 2002, who resigned this summer to join Keeling & Associates, a higher education consulting practice in New York City. A national search is under way for a permanent successor.

Finnie, who earned her A.B. from Princeton in 1984, has been director of operations and associate director of UHS for the past seven years.

“I have confidence in Janet Finnie’s ability to lead UHS and to maintain focus on our vital health and well-being initiatives during this time of transition,” said Janet Dickerson, vice president for campus life.

Finnie also holds a master of social work from Boston University and a master of business administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Before joining the Princeton staff, she held several administrative positions with Pennsylvania Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Health System.

UHS is a fully accredited health care facility that provides comprehensive health services to Princeton undergraduate and graduate students and their dependents, and University faculty and staff.
