Spotlight

Name: Steven Kanaby.

Position: Assistant manager for event operations in athletics. Working with the assistant director to oversee 38 varsity teams. Serving as event operations supervisor at sporting events. Overseeing all aspects of game management, including hiring ticket sellers, ticket takers and ushers. Working with staff members in athletics communications, marketing and facilities. Assisting with the management of Jadwin Gymnasium.

Quote: “I look at athletics as being co-curricular, not extracurricular. Athletics provides teachable moments about commitment, dedication and sacrifice with your teammates. That’s really what being a student-athlete is all about, and playing a small part in that is very fulfilling.”

Other interests: Playing golf. Reading. Playing basketball with his 17-year-old nephew, Robert.

• Deadlines. In general, the copy deadline for each issue is the Friday 10 days in advance of the Monday cover date. The deadline for the Bulletin that covers Oct. 15-21 is Friday, Oct. 5.
