Name: Suzanne Burchfield.
Position: Horticulturalist in the grounds department. Maintaining all landscape beds and trees on campus with a crew of four and several summer student workers. Pruning, planting, watering, controlling weeds and managing insects and disease.
Quote: “I have a great appreciation for the diverse and historic landscape at Princeton. Some of the original landscape and design is still intact from the 19th century, when it was created by Beatrix Ferrand, the University’s first landscape architect. Today we’re incorporating a sustainability approach by planting a variety of native plant species to enhance the natural landscape.”
Other interests: Designing gardens. Hiking and camping with her dogs. Discovering new backroad adventures.
