Q&A with Christopher Chyba: Christopher Chyba readily admits that there is little apparent common ground between his two career tracks: astrophysics and international policy studies. Over the years, his diverse interests have led to some unusual tasks, including calculating the saltiness of an ocean on one of Jupiter’s moons and drafting the Clinton administration’s response strategy for infectious diseases.

Former President Bill Clinton will deliver the keynote address at the University’s Class Day ceremony on Monday, June 5. Leaders of the senior class selected Clinton, who served from 1993 to 2001, from among numerous nominees suggested by classmates.

Fieldstone, limestone and slate: Work progresses on Whitman
On any given weekday, some 200 workers from just about every trade group converge on the site of Whitman College. The University’s sixth residential college (shown below right from New South looking east) is quickly taking shape between Baker Rink and Dillon Gymnasium, involving crews of everyone from carpenters to masons to plumbers.

In 1975, legendary trumpeter Miles Davis famously declared, “Jazz is dead.” For Princeton senior Megan Summers, a budding jazz historian, Davis’ pronouncement helped inspire her thesis research into the development of jazz education in America.
