Trustees approve faculty promotions

Princeton NJ -- The Board of Trustees has approved the promotions of 16 faculty members. The faculty members and their departments, by the academic rank to which they are being promoted, are:

Professor Su Friedrich, humanities and visual arts; Jacqueline Stone, religion; and Zoltan Szabo, mathematics. All are effective July 1, 2002.

Associate professor Edgar Choueiri, mechanical and aerospace engineering; Joshua Goldstein, Woodrow Wilson School and sociology; Frederick Hughson, molecular biology; Tali Mendelberg, politics; Isabelle Nabokov, anthropology; and Vance Smith, English. All, with continuing tenure, are effective July 1, 2002.

Assistant professor Jinho Baik, mathematics; Christiano Galbiati, physics; Adam Meirowitz, politics; and Benjamin Sudakov, mathematics. All are for three-year terms, effective July 1, 2002, except Meirowitz's, which is for three and one-half years, effective Feb. 1, 2002.

Senior lecturer Martine Benjamin, French and Italian; Patricia Fernandez-Kelly, sociology; and Celia Pérez-Ventura, Spanish and Portuguese languages and cultures. All are for three-year terms, effective July 1, 2002.
