Kathleen Hall Jamieson to Deliver James A. Moffett '29 Lecture in Ethics
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Professor of Communication and Dean of The Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, will deliver a lecture on "Deliberation, Democratic Politics, and Journalism" in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2000 at Princeton University.
An expert on political campaigns, Kathleen Hall Jamieson serves as director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania. She has frequently appeared as a commentator on CBS News, The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, National Public Radio, and CNN’s Inside Politics.
Professor Jamieson is the author or co-author of nine books, including Dirty Politics: Deception, Distraction and Democracy; Beyond the Double Bind: Women and Leadership; Packaging the Presidency, which received the Speech Communication Association’s Golden Anniversary Book Award; and Eloquence in an Electronic Age, which received the Winans-Wichelns Book Award. Her most recent book is Spiral of Cynicism: Press and Public Good, co-authored with Joseph Cappella.
The James A. Moffett '29 Lectures in Ethics are offered by the University Center for Human Values, directed by Amy Gutmann, Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Politics. The endowed lecture series is presented under the auspices of the Program in Ethics and Public Affairs, which brings the perspectives of moral, political, and legal philosophy to bear on significant issues in public affairs, both domestic and international. Faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates from a broad range of University Departments and the Institute for Advanced Study attend the lectures, which are also open to the general public.
