Photos by Princeton Photography Club on Display at Woodrow Wilson School

PRINCETON, NJ -- An exhibit of color and black-and-white photographs taken by the members of the Princeton Photography Club is on display at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, in Robertson Hall's Bernstein Gallery, through February 26.

The show features 62 prints by 18 local photographers "of various ages, backgrounds, and life pursuits," noted the club's vice president, M. Jay Goodkind, a retired physician and member of Princeton's Class of 1949. In addition to Goodkind's award-winning black-and-white landscapes and still lifes, the show includes works by:

• Vivian Abbott, who has included 35 mm images of local subjects in the exhibit;

• Don Connors, who takes his camera along while traveling on business. One of his pieces in the exhibit is a paladium print, the result of a labor-intensive process that yields a wide tonal range;

• Sally Davidson, who teaches photography in an adult education program;

• Helga Fontus, an avid gardener who photographs flowers in vivid color;

• Edward Greenblat, an economist specializing in international taxation who works in black and white. The images in the exhibit were captured during his recent trip to the northwest;

• Heinz and Maria Gartlgruber, who travel the world searching for the perfect subjects to photograph, and who produce custom-crafted prints in their own darkroom;

• Rhoda Kassof-Isaac, a photographer and painter who combines her talents by producing hand-colored black-and-white photos;

• Leona Law, a grammar school art and photography teacher;

• David H. Miller, an international banker who has in the exhibit Polaroid images manipulated to create shapes, textures, and highlights;

• Deborah Paglione, an accomplished photographer and painter who has received commissions from the Hyatt Regency, the rotary clubs of Hamilton and Washington townships, and the McCarter Theater, among many others;

• Larry Parsons, a stock broker who teaches photography in an adult education program with fellow exhibitor Sally Davidson;

• Steven Richman, a lawyer who practices international and commercial law in Princeton, and chair of the editorial board of New Jersey Lawyer magazine;

• Theresa Simao, whose black-and-white photos of the Woodrow Wilson School appear at the entrance of the show;

• Jessica Stearns, an airline pilot who specializes in aerial photography;

• John Sunkiskis, who teaches photography at Mercer Community College.

Founded in 1983 as part of the Arts Council of Princeton, the club is composed of local professional and amateur photographers interested in art education and growth. Individual members have exhibited locally in the Annual Mercer County Photo Exhibition, at Phillips Mill, and at Perkins Art Center. Their works appear in numerous private collections.

The Bernstein Gallery in Robertson Hall is open daily from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. weekdays and from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekends. There is no charge for admission.
