Paul Krugman, a professor in the Department of Economics and in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton, was awarded the 2008 Nobel Prize in economics for his groundbreaking research on international trade. Well known publicly in his role as a New York Times columnist and a media commentator on economic and policy issues, Krugman was honored for his academic work on international trade patterns and economic geography that has greatly influenced research in his field.
