The 18,800-square-foot facility pairs the restored Elm Club building (left) with a contemporary 5,000-square-foot addition. When establishing their new home at 58 Prospect Ave, the Fields Center and Community House staff decided to make it a beacon for multicultural education and social opportunities within the University campus and local community.

The open and light-filled facility offers larger, more visible and dynamic space for the Fields Center and Community House. Work included an exterior restoration of the former Elm Club building to its original Italianate revival style with new stucco and cast stone details, as well as an interior renovation of the three-story building.

Among the Fields Center's planned new offerings are collaborations with the Princeton Writing Program, which will meet in the building's seminar room.

The interior of the new building is designed to support of a mix of functions and to leave room for growth for Fields Center and Community House educational, social and tutoring programs. Rooms on the first floor include a lobby that also serves as a gallery, a library, a small area with café seating and formal sitting areas in a vibrant color scheme that provide spaces for chats, speakers and movie screenings.

An event space featuring large windows, wood-paneled walls of Douglas fir, and a dark wood floor is designed for musical performances, lectures, banquets and conferences.
