New York City Public Advocate Mark Green to Speak on "Smart Policing"

Princeton, N.J. -- New York City public advocate Mark Green will address the issue "Can Smart Policing Reduce Crime and Police Misconduct?" at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs on Monday, April 19, at 4:30 p.m. in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall.

Green, who was elected NYC's first public advocate in 1993, promised to be "a quality-of-life cop patrolling the bureaucracy beat -- without fear or flinching." He serves as the ombudsman for consumers of NYC services by answering their complaints against the bureaucracy, investigating ineffective agencies and programs, and proposing new solutions to make government more efficient and accountable. He served previously as commissioner of consumer affairs.

A graduate of Harvard Law School, Green is the author or editor of 15 books, among them Who Runs Congress? Reagan's Reign of Error, Changing America: Blueprints for a New Administration, and The Consumer Bible. He has written approximately 250 magazine articles and appeared frequently on television on programs such as Crossfire and Firing Line.

His talk is being sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School.
