U.S. and Korean Ambassadors to Speak at Woodrow Wilson School


Princeton, N.J. -- The state of U.S. Korea relations will be discussed by Korean Ambassador Kun Woo Park and U.S. Ambassador James T. Laney during a talk titled "U.S. Korea Relations: Security and Economic Issues" at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs on Monday, April 7, at noon in Robertson Hall, Bowl 1.

Park, the Korean ambassador to the Unites States, was previously Korea's vice minister of foreign affairs and had also served as ambassador to Canada and Colombia. He holds a law degree from the Seoul National University.

Laney, the U.S. ambassador to Korea, was previously the president of Emory University, a post he held for 16 years. His articles have appeared in The Harvard Magazine and The New York Times , as well as in books and journals. He served in Korea in 1947 48 in Army counterintelligence and taught at Korea's Yonsei University from 1969 74. Laney holds a Ph.D. from Yale.

The discussion is sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, the Korean Economic Institute of America, and the Federation of Korean Industries. It is part of the 1997 Korea Caravan.
