Joint U.S.-Russia Environmental Protection Efforts to be Discussed

Princeton, N.J. -- Gary Waxmonsky, the U.S. executive secretary for the Gore-Chernomyrdin Commission (GCC) of the Environmental Protection Agency, will discuss his experiences in a lecture titled "Foreign Relations at the Improv: A Worm's Eye View of the Gore-Chernomyrdin Commission" at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs on Monday, March 3, at 4:30 p.m. in Bowl 5, Robertson Hall.

Waxmonsky, who earned a Ph.D. in politics from Princeton in 1982, is responsible for coordinating with and advising public and private organizations from the United States that want to cooperate with their Russian counterparts under the U.S.-Russian Environmental Agreement, signed in June 1994. He also identifies new opportunities for cooperation, such as the potential for joint efforts to address pollution problems in the Arctic.

His talk is being sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School.
