Florio, Zimmer to Debate Balanced Budget Amendment at Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School

Princeton, N.J. -- Former New Jersey Governor Jim Florio and former Congressman Dick Zimmer will participate in ``The Great Debate Over the Balanced Budget Amendment: Necessary Discipline or Excessive Restriction?'' at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs on Monday, February 24, at 7:00 p.m. in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall.

Florio, a Democrat who was governor from 1990 until 1994 and a member of Congress from 1975 until 1990, and Zimmer, a Republican who served from 1990 until 1996 and was a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, will each present their viewpoints on this politically charged economic issue.

Their debate will be followed by commentary from two Princeton professors with extensive expertise in the economic and political arenas: Alan Blinder, former vice chair of the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors, author of Hard Heads, Soft Hearts , and the Gordon S. Rentschler Memorial Professor of Economics; and David Bradford, a former member of the President's Council of Economic Advisers, author of Untangling the Income Tax , and professor of economics and public affairs.

The discussion will be moderated by Michael Rothschild, dean of the Woodrow Wilson School.
