German Minister Speaks on the Environment

Princeton, N.J.--Monika Griefahn, minister of the environment, Lower Saxony, Germany, will give a lecture entitled "Ecology and Economy: How to Get It, How to Keep It" at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs on Tuesday, February 18, in Robertson Hall, Bowl 1, at 4:30 p.m.

Griefahn, a sociologist, was one of the founders of Greenpeace Germany. She served as the group's executive director from 1980 to 1984 and then as director of its international board until 1990. She worked to establish Greenpeace offices in Austria, Latin America, and the former Soviet Union and developed some of the organization's training programs. Griefahn is also a member of the commission of the federal Social Democratic Party charged with creating a government program responsible for the environment.

Her lecture is sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and the John Foster Dulles Program Lecture Series.
