Paintings by Gilda Aronovic on Display at the Woodrow Wilson School

Princeton, N.J.--Paintings by Gilda Aronovic, a longtime resident of Princeton, will be on display at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School at the Marver and Sheva Bernstein Gallery on the lower level of Robertson Hall through December 31.

Aronovic's paintings feature two distinct approaches to composition. In the first, she creates abstract, brightly colored flower gardens filled with imaginative flower shapes of her own devising through energetic brushstrokes and an individual use of color. In her second approach, Aronovic uses color shapes and patterns, sometimes in concert, sometimes in opposition, to create paintings that offer viewers the possibility of a wide range of interpretations.

Winner of the 1986 McCarter Theater Gruenbacher Prize, Aronovic has shown her work in a number of one-person and group shows, both locally and in Manhattan. Her one-person shows include exhibits at John T. Henderson, Inc. in Hopewell, the Princeton and West Windsor Public libraries, and the New Jersey National Bank in Princeton. Her paintings have been seen in group shows at the Trenton City Museum, Artworks in Trenton, and the First St. Gallery in Manhattan, among others.

The Bernstein Gallery in Robertson Hall, at the corner of Prospect Avenue and Washington Road in Princeton, is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends. There is no charge for admission.
