"Clinton Defense Program" to be Subject of Talk at Princeton
Princeton, N.J.--William J. Lynn III, director for program analysis and evaluation in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, will speak on the "Clinton Defense Program" at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs on Monday, Oct. 21, at 4:30 p.m. in Bowl 5, Robertson Hall.
Lynn, who earned a master of public affairs degree from the Woodrow Wilson School in 1980, is responsible for advising the secretary of defense on program, budget, and financial matters. He was previously an assistant to the secretary of defense for budget, and served as deputy director of the Clinton-Gore Defense Department Transition Team, and as a defense adviser to the Clinton-Gore campaign.
From 1987 until 1993, Lynn was on the legislative counsel for defense and arms control matters on the staff of Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), and also served as the senator's staff representative on the Senate Armed Services Committee. Prior to 1987, he was a senior fellow in the Strategic Concepts Development Center at National Defense University, where he specialized in strategic nuclear forces and arms control issues; a member of the professional staff of the Institute for Defense Analyses; and executive director of the Defense Organization Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He has written articles that have appeared in International Security , the Yale Law and Policy Review , The New York Times , and The Los Angeles Times .
