Israeli Ambassador Itamar Rabinovich to Give Lecture on Peace Process

Princeton, N.J. -- Itamar Rabinovich, the Israeli ambassador to the United States, will deliver the 18th Annual Carolyn L. Drucker Memorial Lecture, titled, ``The Arab-Israeli Peace Process: Historical Perspective and Contemporary Experience.'' The lecture will be May 1 at 8 p.m. in McCosh 50.

Rabinovich, who held several leading positions at Tel Aviv University before accepting his appointment as ambassador, is a renowned expert on modern Middle Eastern history and the author of several books and articles on the recent history of the region.

His most recent book, The Road Not Taken, was published shortly before he became ambassador and is a study of an unsuccessful attempt at Syrian-Israeli reconciliation in the early 1980s.

The Drucker Lecture was endowed in memory of Carolyn Louise Drucker, a member of the Class of 1980 who died in 1978. Drucker was studying Hebrew and shared her family's interest in Jewish studies and Jewish affairs.

The lecture is sponsored by the Department of Near Eastern Studies.
