International Relations Experts to Discuss Europe and the U.S.

Princeton, N.J.--International relations experts Miles Kahler and Charles Kupchan will discuss "Europe and the United States: The Troubled Partnership Revisited" at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs on Wednesday, May 1, at 4:30 p.m. in Bowl 6, Robertson Hall.

Kahler is a senior fellow for international political economy at the Council on Foreign Relations and a professor of international relations at the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies, University of California, San Diego. His recent publications include Regionalism and Rivalry: Japan and the U.S. in Pacific Asia , a winner of the Masayoshi Ohira Memorial Prize. He has been chair of the editorial board of International Organization and a member of the editorial board of World Politics . He has been a visiting fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, the Institute for Southeast Asian Studies, the Institute of Fiscal and Monetary Policy (Tokyo), and Australian National University. He taught at Princeton and Yale before joining the faculty of ht University of California, San Diego.

Kupchan is a senior fellow for Europe at the Council on Foreign Relations and a professor of international relations at Georgetown University. Before joining the Council, he worked in the Clinton White House as director of European affairs on the National Security Council. Previously a professor at Princeton, he is the author of Nationalism and Nationalities in the New Europe (1995); The Vulnerability of the Empire (1994); and The Persian Gulf and the West (1987).
