Two Princeton Students Receive Churchill Scholarships

Princeton, N.J. -- Princeton seniors John Bossert and Adam Durst are among 10 students to receive this year's annual scholarship from the Winston Churchill Foundation.

The Churchill Foundation scholarship is awarded for studies in science, mathematics and engineering. Winners study at Cambridge University for one year and receive full tuition plus a $9,000 stipend.

Durst is an electrical engineering major who will receive a certificate in engineering physics. He plans to concentrate on condensed matter physics at Cambridge and has already done independent work on this topic for three semesters at Princeton. Durst has also spent two summers working at Northrop-Grumman on Long Island, N.Y. After Cambridge, Durst plans to pursue a Ph.D. at Harvard or at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Bossert, a chemical engineering major, will study mathematical statistics. Bossert emphasized the benefit of studying abroad. "I will have the opportunity to study in a country that I would otherwise have experienced only as a visitor," he said.
