Senator Bill Bradley to Speak on ``America's Leadership''

Princeton, N.J.--Senator Bill Bradley, a member of Princeton's Class of 1965, will speak on ``Rethinking America's Leadership'' at Princeton University on Friday, February 16, at 4:30 p.m. in 50 McCosh Hall.

In a recent interview, Senator Bradley said, ``There's a place for leaders. I make the distinction between celebrity and leader and hero. I think that what this society needs are leaders who will call it like they see it and tell people what they might not want to hear in a way that's necessary for us all to understand together collectively if we are ever going to be able to move ahead.''

Senator Bradley, who was a Rhodes Scholar and basketball star after graduating from Princeton, is completing his 18th and final year in the senate. He announced his plans to step down in the fall of 1995, and there is speculation that he may run for president at some point in the future. His most recent book, Time Present, Time Past, was published in January by Alfred A. Knopf.

Admission to Senator Bradley's talk is by ticket only. A limited number of tickets will be available on Friday, February 16, at 10 a.m. in the lobby of Robertson Hall, at the corner of Washington Road and Prospect Avenue. First come, first served; there is no charge.

The talk will be taped and broadcast into Princeton Borough on Thursday, February 22, at 8:00 p.m. on C-Tec channel A-11.

Senator Bradley's visit is being sponsored by the University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and the Princeton University Book Store.

Note: Journalists wishing to cover the event should contact Patricia Coen at (609) 258-5764 by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, to reserve a seat.
