Mr. Gordon Y. S. Wu

Managing director of Hopewell Holdings Ltd., one of the largest
property development and infrastructure groups in Hong Kong,
Gordon Wu Ying Sheung is also executive chair of Consolidated
Electric Power Asia Ltd. (CEPA), Asia's largest independent power
production company. Current Hopewell transport projects include
several highways in the People's Republic of China and a mass
transit project in Bangkok, Thailand; CEPA projects include the
construction of power stations in China, the Philippines and
Central Java.

After graduating from Princeton, in 1962 Wu joined his father to
create the family company of Central Enterprises Co. Ltd. to
embark on real estate development in Hong Kong. The firm of Gordon
Wu and Associates was created to undertake design and engineering,
and Hopewell Construction Co. Ltd. was created in 1963 to
undertake construction activities. In 1972 Hopewell Holdings Ltd.
was formed to consolidate the holdings of Wu and colleagues. In
1993 Hopewell's power projects were grouped as a separate
subsidiary, CEPA.

For his building projects, Wu developed of the slip form method of
construction for high-rise buildings, by which the concrete
structure of such buildings can be erected at the rate of one
floor every three days. He has designed and developed more than
100 buildings, including the 66-story Hopewell Centre (for 10
years the tallest building in Hong Kong), where the Hopewell group
of companies is headquartered; the 1,200-room China Hotel in
Guangzhou; and the 1,026-room Kowloon Panda Hotel in Hong Kong.

Adviser to the International Finance Corporation Business Advisory
Council of the World Bank Group, Wu also serves as adviser on a
number of councils in Hong Kong and China. He is the recipient of
honorary doctorates from the University of Strathclyde, UK, and
Hong Kong Polytechnic.

He and his wife Ivy have four children, including June Wu '92 and
Thomas Jefferson Wu '94.
