''James Carville Looks at American
Politics''at Princeton University

Princeton, N.J.--Democratic political strategist James Carville
will give a talk entitled ``James Carville Looks at American
Politics'' at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of
Public and International Affairs on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 4:30 p.m.
in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall. The talk will be broadcast
in Princeton Borough on Friday, Nov. 10, at 10 p.m. on C-Tec cable
television, channel A11.

Carville, who (with his partner Paul Begala) managed
President Clinton's winning campaign in 1992, is currently a
senior political adviser to the president. In 1993 Carville was
honored as campaign manager of the year for his leadership of
Clinton's Little Rock campaign headquarters, known as the War
Room. His performance there also made him a focus of the Academy
Award-nominated documentary entitled _The War Room_.

Carville has managed more campaigns than any other political
consultant in the country. His list of electoral successes
includes the 1991 U.S. Senate victory of Harris Wofford over
Richard Thornburgh in Pennsylvania; the 1990 gubernatorial
victories of Zell Miller in Georgia and Robert Casey in
Pennsylvania; the 1988 re-election of Senator Frank Lautenberg in
New Jersey; the 1987 gubernatorial victory of Wallace Wilkinson in
Kentucky; and the 1986 gubernatorial victory of Robert Casey in
Pennsylvania.

Carville and his wife, Mary Matalin, who was deputy campaign
manager for George Bush's re-election campaign, are the co-authors
of _All's Fair: Love, War, and Running for President_ (Simon &
Schuster, Random House, 1994). Carville is working on a book
about the meaning and likely consequences of the current
Republican agenda.

His talk is being sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School.

Note: Because seating is limited, reporters wishing to cover
the talk should contact Patricia Coen at (609) 258-5764 by
Tuesday, Nov. 7, to make arrangements.
