''The Politics of Disadvantage''
to be Discussed in Princeton Lecture

Princeton, N.J.--Lawrence M. Mead, professor of politics at New
York University, will speak on "The Politics of Disadvantage," at
Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and
International Affairs on Wednesday, April, 19, at 4:30 p.m. in
Robertson Hall, Bowl 1. Mead is also the 1994-95 John L.
Weinberg/Goldman Sachs & Co. Visiting Professor at the Woodrow
Wilson School.

A distinguished scholar who specializes in welfare reform, Mead
has been a visiting professor of public policy at Harvard's
Kennedy School of Government, deputy director of research for the
Republican National Committee, a political scientist at the Urban
Institute in Washington, DC., and a speech writer for Secretary of
State Henry Kissinger. His articles have appeared in numerous
publications, including the _Washington Post_, _Wall Street
Journal_, _New York Times_, _Foreign Service Journal_, Policy
Review, and Commentary. He has testified before Congress 12 times
on issues related to poverty, welfare, and employment.

Mead's lecture is being sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School and
Weinberg/Goldman Sachs & Co.
