George Washington University Dean to Address
'U.S.-China Relations After Deng'

Princeton, N.J.--Harry Harding, dean of the Elliott School of
International Affairs at George Washington University, will speak
on ``U.S. China Relations After Deng'' at Princeton University's
Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs on
Wednesday, March 22, at 4:30 p.m. in Robertson Hall, Bowl 6.

Harding, a member of Princeton's Class of 1967, is also a
professor of political science and international affairs at George
Washington University. He is a specialist on Asian affairs with a
particular expertise in China. Harding is the author of _A
Fragile Relationship: The United States and China Since 1972_,
which was named an ``Outstanding Academic Book for 1992'' by
Choice magazine and received the honorable mention award in the
competition for the ``Best Book in Government and Political
Science'' conducted by the Association of American Publishers. He
is also the author of _China and Northeast Asia: The Political
Dimension and ChinaÕs Second Revolution: Reform After Mao_, among
other books.

Before joining the faculty at George Washington University in
1995, Harding had been a senior fellow in the Foreign Policy
Studies Program at the Brookings Institution and a professor of
political science at Stanford University.

His talk is being sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School.
